Rehabilitation
Professional therapists provide rehabilitative services to people who have had a stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, surgery, or who are experiencing pain that cannot be controlled by medication alone. Physical therapists help restore strength and flexibility and ease pain with special exercises, massage, education, and other techniques.
Occupational therapists provide education and special techniques or equipment to help a person more easily perform activities of daily living. Speech-language therapists help restore speech and retrain swallowing or breathing muscles in people who have experienced a trauma.
