Infusion
Infusion therapy, once available only as an inpatient treatment, can sometimes be administered in the home. This is especially helpful if you are caring for a particularly frail or ill loved one. To determine if a person is an appropriate candidate for home infusion therapy, a thorough patient assessment and home assessment are performed.
The patient's physician must prescribe infusion therapy. A provider of infusion must be a licensed pharmacy or work in conjunction with a licensed pharmacy. Typically, an RN delivers the therapy to the patient at home.
